I have just finished reading the Hunger Games series finally!
I started over a year ago, way before Mockingjay ever came out.
I mostly substitute teach and am certified for Junior High students (as well as Elementary).

I feel I have to try to read whatever it is that is popular at the time depending on the genre. I do this so I know what they are talking about at the moment. And it really helps out since I want to teach English/Language Arts.
Well Hunger Games was on our recommended book list last year for the Texas Lone Star list for Junior High. I had no clue what the book was about and didn't really care to read it.
One day during D.E.A.R. (drop everything and read) day in a class I was working in I was very bored. I didn't have a book to read and went to another classroom where my friend, a teacher, was working and asked her for something to read.
She highly recommended Hunger Games as well as other teachers and friends I've talked to.
At that moment I was hooked. I loved every moment of the book and immediately went out and bought the second one.
I couldn't wait for the last one of the series, Mockingjay, to come out.
Since it has come out I've been so busy with student teaching and other stuff that it has taken me so long to get around to reading it. I have tons of books stacked up high to read and need to make the time for them which I plan to do once school is out for the Summer.
Also want to try to write my own story/book or whatever it turns out to be. I plan on beginning in June.
Well I finished reading the book this morning around 5am.
I got so tired of only having time here and there to read it that I decided to lie in bed and finish it up.
I must say it was an excellent read.
I was really worried about who Katniss would choose "to love" in the book. Was it going to be Gale or Peeta? And I had mixed emotions on which one I wanted her to choose. Usually I know right away who the main character should be with but this book really had me confused on my feelings about this.
Also I wanted to know who would live and who would die?
Would she make it? Gale? Peeta? And many others.
I will say I am pleasantly surprised with the end results with the book and feel that it was worth the read.
Anyone on the fence about the series I would suggest reading it because it's something that an adult would definitely love to read as well.
I will try to give little reviews here and there on books I read this Summer.
I think next I may read Something Borrowed by Emily Griffin before watching it at the theater.
I usually love all her books though.
Then I will get back to reading The Pretty Little Liars series which are much different from the TV show. I must say if you do have a teenager I would not suggest they read the books. I feel they would be a whole lot better without the use of the profanity that consistantly shows up in them.
The most popular word being the "f" word which is surprising since I thought they were geared to a teen level.
Also the Hunger Games is going to be out as a movie. I think they just wrapped up figuring out who to play all the key parts. It will be interesting to see.
