Memorial Day is a holiday in which we honor those that have died while serving our country!
I want to say Thanks to those families who had to live through these sacrifices and also Thanks to the men and women who have and still are serving the United States!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The History:
Memorial Day traces its roots to the Civil War. To honor the Union soldiers killed in the war, Gen. John Logan, the commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, ordered their graves decorated May 30.

Southern states did not recognize the holiday until after World War I when “Decoration Day” was transformed into a holiday to honor all Americans killed in war.

I did a layout that is tributed to my grandfather that served in the Korean War. He didn't die while serving but still feel I should honor him for his service to his country. I have been lucky to not have to go through the pain of losing a loved one in my lifetime to their service. But felt instead it was a good idea for me to choose him considering all he saw in war and while fighting in the front lines.

Supplies:
Bazzill Paper
Patterned Paper-Unsure of the brand
Eyelets-military
Ribbon-Paper Studio
Title-Printed on Bazzill
Korean War and date- Making Memories (mini shimmer alpha in black)
Stamps-CTMH D1069 (Army)
My husband has done an interview of him and his time in Korea on video tape. Til this day I still haven't watched it but I will one day and be sure to journal it all down to go into its own special album.
Blog Candy:
I have a few Stampin Up Stamps to give away! It's not a complete set, but they are still new and mounted already.
It's this set minus the "happy birthday" stamp. Not sure where the stamp went or is as I was given this stamp set new this way. All you need to do is leave a comment and I will use random.org to pick a winner by Tuesday!

Great layout and tribute to your grandfather! My grandfathers also served in the military (one passed away in 2005). I would love to do something like this for both of them. Thanks for the inspiration!
