Welcome to the Abusive Relationship Awareness Blog Hop. While this may not be your typical blog hop theme, we decided to put together this hop in order to shed light on a topic that often goes unspoken about, when the truth is many of us have either been in an abusive relationship or know of someone who has. We're here not to celebrate abusive relationships, but to bring hope to those who have been firsthand or secondhand victims and to provide awareness to help put an end to this growing problem.
All of our projects showcased in this hop have something to do with hope, love, and encouragement. The color for domestic violence is purple, and as you'll see purple was used on many of our projects.
My project is actually a digital layout that lays out some of the myths or actual feelings a person may go through and feel during an abusive relationship. It's easy when you are on the outside looking in and say, "well just get away." But there is more to it then that. It's a whole conditioning experience. And abuse usually goes through a cycle. But know there really is hope. You can leave. You have to work your way up to it and realize there are resources out there for you. And then you can rebuild your self esteem or if you never had high self esteem as it is then you can work on building positive self esteem for yourself because you do deserve better regardless of what you think.
I was in a relationship that was abusive from the ages 13-19 years old, I even had a child with the person I was in a relationship with. It took me all those years to finally get the courage and self esteem to leave and I was even a college student during the end of the relationship.
Now I realize I would've eventually ended up hurt physically beyond being repaired if not killed if that relationship would've never ended.
If you are reading this and are in an abusive relationship then realize you can leave, get assistance to get out. Be careful though when using the computer since your history online can be searched.
Run out and never turn back, you deserve it!!
If you are reading this and have gotten away already, I applaud you. And I pray for you as you go through the different ups and downs that go through you throughout life.
And if you've never experienced this type of relationship then I'm happy to hear this but I also hope you find understanding for those that are in them or have been in them. Read more about them, learn more, so you can understand.

Your words and layout are so inspiring!! I too got out over 27 years ago!! If it had not been for the child I was carrying, I might never have left. But I knew for my child's sake and mine too, I needed to leave.
Thanks for the inspiration.

These myths are so true. This is near and dear to me. My cousin who lost her life to an abusive relationship would say the same thing. It was to late for when she tried to get out of it. TFS AJ!
A thought-provoking project, thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I know that had to be hard. I have a niece that was in an abusive relationship when she was 16-19. I never realized it was as bad as it was because she always made those excuses like you put in your layout. It wasn't until after she finally got out that she started to reveal some of the things that had actually went on. Teen relationship abuse is on the rise more than people know. I am so happy that you were able to get out of your abusive relationship. Thank you for doing this hop and shedding light on such a touchy subject.

Thanks for sharing your story, Jamie! I went through some things myself. No one really knows what it's like unless they've gone through it themselves. It's a horrible place to be, and I thank God that person is no longer in my life. Take care and God bless.

Thanks a lot for being the lecturer on this area. We enjoyed your own article quite definitely and most of all cherished how you handled the issues I widely known as controversial. You happen to be always quite kind towards readers much like me and help me in my lifestyle. Thank you.
